Your standing in the network, measured on two independent pillars. Rank decides your weight in the draw that selects sealers — more tickets, more chances — and it is earned rather than bought.
How rank is measured
Both pillars are counted inside a rolling 242-day window — twice the 121 days the top rank requires, so you can miss up to half of it and still reach the summit. Days need not be consecutive: a missed day costs a day, not a streak.
When a window closes, your accrued progress halves and carries forward. Keep participating and it converges upward; stop, and it decays over several windows. Rank reflects what you are doing now, not something earned once.
Both gates must clear. The staking pillar needs days and TRITO held — capital without time earns nothing above the lowest rung, and time without capital is capped by what you hold. Someone staking ten million today has one ticket.
Tickets are proportional to the resource committed, which is what makes splitting your holdings across many wallets pointless: a hundred wallets earn exactly what one wallet with the same total earns. Maximum 2,048 across both pillars.

A burn qualifies when it exceeds a minimum tied to the rank being claimed, and goes to an address other than your own. Size of the transfer is not what counts — only the amount actually destroyed, since a transfer between two wallets you control costs nothing but the burn.
